high frequency
used in our clear skin treatment facial
What is High Frequency?
High Frequency is an electrical current used to stimulate, sanitise and heal the skin. The High Frequency current generates warmth in the skin and stimulates nerve endings. This in turn increases blood circulation. It encourages healthy cell function and promotes skin healing. It has a germicidal and anti-bacterial effect and therefore treats and prevents acne, blemish-prone skin, and over production of oil.
How does High Frequency work?
Glass probes containing argon gas react with the mild electrical current emitting a violet ozone which has an anti-bacterial effect on the skin. This electrical reaction also transforms the molecules around the probe into pure oxygen, meaning the skin is flooded with essential oxygen which promotes healing and healthy cell function.
How is the Treatment Performed?
The glass probes mentioned above are not applied directly to the skin, instead a thin cotton gauze is placed over the probe. This means there is a minute gap between the probes and the skin which is essential for allowing the oxygen molecules into the skin. Depending on the client’s skin, the high frequency part of the facial will either be performed as a finisher or in-between the application of bespoke skincare products.
How do I know if High Frequency is Right for me?
This facial is perfect for anybody with ‘problem skin’ - whether thats over production of oil, occasional breakouts, active acne, or mild acne. It can be performed on any age (great for teenage acne) and any skin type. There are some contra-indications which are - epilepsy, an excessive number of dental fillings/braces – due to the strong and unpleasant metallic taste inside the mouth, metal pins and plates, pregnancy, jewellery – all metal jewellery should be removed prior to the treatment due to the circulation of an electrical current.
What is the down time?
There is no downtime with this treatment but you must wear SPF and keep your face out of direct sunlight.
